Get involved with APA-OK
APA-OK is a volunteer-driven organization, and our committees play a central role in carrying out the chapter’s work. Committees help move planning forward in Oklahoma while creating opportunities for professional growth, connection, and leadership.
Whether you’re new to APA-OK or looking to deepen your involvement, serving on a committee is a great way to contribute in a meaningful way.
Our Committees
Our committees support the chapter’s core goals, from advocacy and professional development to events and member engagement.
Legislative Committee: Stay connected to the policies shaping planning in Oklahoma. This committee tracks state and federal legislation, helps coordinate APA-OK’s position on key issues, and shares timely updates and resources with members so everyone stays informed and prepared.
Member Services & Communications: Focus on strengthening connections across our membership and improving how we engage and communicate. This group supports events like Planners on Tap, contributes to email and social media outreach, and helps identify new ways to grow and better connect with members across the state.
Professional Development Committee: Help support learning and growth opportunities for planners at all stages of their careers. This committee plays a role in planning trainings, workshops, and webinars, supporting AICP certification and CM opportunities, and making sure programming stays relevant, practical, and accessible.
Conference Committee (HIGH NEED): Play a key role in planning and delivering the 2026 Oklahoma Planning Conference in Bartlesville (September 27–29). This committee leads one of the chapter’s biggest efforts each year, coordinating sessions and speakers, supporting sponsorship outreach, and helping manage event logistics and on-site coordination. We’re especially looking for members in the Tulsa/Bartlesville area to bring local knowledge and help make this year’s conference a success.
External Partnerships & Sponsorships Committee: Help build and strengthen relationships that expand opportunities for the chapter and its members. This committee works with partner organizations, supports sponsorship efforts, and identifies new ways to collaborate and grow APA-OK’s impact across the state.
